I looked out the window and what did I see?

Popcorn popping on the little plumb tree! No kidding...I looked out my kitchen window and the plumb tree is blossoming! I know it's a little Early, but I can't wait. I got out my spring boxes, decorated my shelf(s) cleaned everything, dusted...it was invigorating! I love my spring decorations the best so it gave me even more incentive to get them up and see what I had bought last year on clearance (he he) to go with my other stuff. I have this funny thing I am just now figuring out about myself. I like to buy things on clearance or at the DI after the Holiday, put it in my decorating box and then the next year I surprise myself when I open whatever corresponding holiday box it's time for and remember what I bought. It's kind of fun...like Christmas all over again for me, plus you have new stuff the for the Holiday to work with.

My most favorite things about spring are baby chicks, (I am determined to get one for my kids to play with this year...I just have to find someone to take it when we're through) and Peeps! Peeps, I have discovered are only good in spring time. I've tried the Peeps pumpkins and Christmas trees, but they just don't have the same appeal as the cute yellow chick peeps at Easter. Mini Cadburry eggs are yummy too, but very dangerous...you can't stop at just one! :P

Because spring brings cleaning I told the boys yesterday that we had to clean and organize...Derrick stopped dead in his tracks and said, "I don't like clings!" (I don't like cleaning)...Dallin added moral support by saying, "I don't like clinging either!" Good thing we were cleaning not clinging...LOL!

Zeke's all grown up!

Zeke had a check up last Friday and he weighed in at 25 pounds on the button and was 30" long! He's in the 100th percentile for height and weight and doing great! I can't believe he's grown 10 inches in 7 months, but the doctor said it was great and he was going to be one heck of a solid football player. He is my tallest kid for sure (he gets that from me) :P He is so much fun...always smiling and going with the flow. The nurse carried him from the scale to the room and he was all giggles for her and when she stuck him with two needles at the same time he didn't shed one tear. I had to ask her if she had done it and she said she thought so but had to check for blood because there were no tears. What a kid! We are so glad he's ours.

If you're wondering why all the pictures with no shirt on...he's slobbering like a bull dog right now (I think he's cutting a tooth) and we can't keep him dry so we're constantly changing shirts and bibs.
This was his first Graham cracker...he loved it!

The other night he and Derrick were in the tub and he figured out that it was fun to splash. It was the first time that Derrick asked to get out of the tub voluntarily...he was totally water logged...so was I!

Spring Cleaning...

We've had some great "spring-like" days here the past few weeks, and I have been getting itchy to start mucking and chucking again. We decided to start with the windows...they were pretty hammered from the great rain and snow we got down here this winter (all three storms...LOL). Anyway, I was telling Stephanie about this great stuff we found to clean them and she said she loved getting helpful hints so I thought I would throw this out there for any of you who are fighting hard water stains as well...

This stuff worked great! I found it at Jone's Paint & Glass and it was a little pricey ($10 for a tub like this), but totally worth it. You rub this green goo on your windows with a damp rag, rub it off with a dry cloth and tah-da...clean windows! No streaks, no Windex, that's it. My windows look awesome and Dustin had fun doing it too! (Not really, but he loves me and did it anyway without too much complaining) :)

"Mini-Me's"

The other day Kristi was over and Dustin was playing with his hair doing it in funky ways trying to decide if it was time to cut it. The boys all picked up on it because we were laughing at him and of coarse went into the bathroom and soaked themselves down with the spray-bottle and started combing their hair weird too. It was pretty funny. They love to be just like their dad. It turned into a photo shoot in the end...see any similarities? :)

It doesn't get better than this...

Our Valentines day (sense the kids celebrated yesterday in school so did we) was busy, fun and totally hilarious...


First off, Alex our never ending food critic, came home from school and told me all about the Valentine candy. He said the pink hearts with speckles were "sour-er-y" (his funny little word for tart) and that we shouldn't eat the blue hearts with speckles because they were just gross!


Then I came home from the playground to find my Valentine...a treadle sewing machine...soooo cute! This has a story behind it that I want to remember so you'll have to bear with me. A few months ago I found a treadle sewing machine for Dustin's Mom at the DI for a steal of a price. She's wanted one forever so I grabbed it (I had to fight off two other ladies and a guy who said he'd give me $100 cash on the spot for it) so by this time I was thinking, Hmmmm this must be something special. Anyway, I had it at my house for a few days and fell in love with it so I've been looking for one for me ever sense. I love to sew and this was just something cute that I wanted for some reason. She took hers up to a guy in Provo to get it cleaned and he said it was worth about $600 and couldn't believe what great shape it was in. Well last weekend, back to the DI we went for the lack of anything better to do and they had this cute red treadle machine, and it's a SINGER to boot (worth even more $$$). It was darling and of coarse I fell in love with it. I didn't really have the money for it though and we didn't have the room to bring it home so I didn't get it. Well to my surprise Dustin went back on Monday morning at opening time and got it for me. It's even more special because he said he had to fight off two ladies for this one and didn't dare leave it sitting there to find someone to put a sold tag on it so he had to just stand there for about 10 min. until a sales person came along. He hates the DI and fighting people for things so he must love me! ;) I am so excited and it's even cuter now than it was sitting in the store. Thanks Dusty! Love ya!


The end of the day was just as funny... we were watching the "Andy Griffith Show" (one of our favorites when there is nothing else decent on) and in this episode Aunt Bee and Opy were going to be gone and Andy was going to be home all by himself. He was telling a friend in the street that he was excited to just do whatever he wanted and the friend asked, "like what?" Andy said, "Oh you know like I could just take my shoes off and leave them on the floor in the middle of the room and walk around bare-foot...stuff like that." Then Dallin turns to Dustin and said, "Hey Dad, does he mean like when you leave your shoes in the middle of the floor?" Totally hilarious! Then Dustin said, "Mom does it too!" and Dallin responded, "No, Mom doesn't she's always telling us to put our shoes away!" Points for me :)

An affair to remember...

Today Dustin sent me a text that said, "I'm thinking of you" that started a cute and flirty text conversation that lasted most of the day. It was so much fun getting cute love notes and sending them back. Anyway, he came home from work and I told him I was having an affair and I was leaving him for this cute guy that had been texting me all day. He laughed and said go for it! Anyway, just a cute little Valentine story. Any of you who need a cheep and fun way to spice up your marriage and Valentines, try having an affair with your husband...it's fun! :P


Note to self:
The other night I went in to see if all the boys were asleep and covered up...Derrick was still up (no surprise) and this was the conversation:

Mom: What are you still doing up?
Derrick: I'm sick and tired!
M: Sick and tired of what?
D: Just sick and tired.
M: Then go to sleep!
D: I can't I'm sick and tired!

Caught me off guard..."sick and tired" is one of my favorite things to say, I guess I'd better watch it when he's in earshot!

Firsts and Funny Moments...

This last weekend was jam-packed with things I don't want to forget...

Saturday Dustin and I had a few errands to run so Kristi came over to tend (life is so much better now that we have Kristi and Julie here to "come and see their nephews" as Dustin puts it :) I came up the stairs and she had all four on her lap. It was so cute. They love it when she comes to tend...Dallin told me I was boring because I didn't play games like she did with him. Anyway, we came home and made lunch and a bee flew into the house. While it was funny enough watching Dustin trying to dodge and kill the bee at the same time, the climax was when Dallin said, "do you want me to get the SPLAT-tula dad?" Soooo cute! We all had a good laugh and even the bee made it outside unharmed.

Dustin helped the boys tune up their bikes and Alex learned how to ride a two wheeler...Yea Alex! Derrick is working hard on learning how to use the pedals...it doesn't help that he inherited his dad's short legs...LOL!

Zeke is sitting up and rolling over on his own. If he thinks someone is behind him though he takes advantage of falling backwards...he thinks it's hilarious...I think it's scary. We've had a few near misses and he's given me a heart attack a few times.

Dustin was as usual, torturing the dog, Saturday it was teaching her how to ride the scooter...poor Cloey...LOL!

Life is just marching right along. Summer will be here before we know it!
